The police in Zamfara State say suspected bandits have attacked Lingyado village of Maru Local Government Area and abducted the District Head and four others.

The police in a press statement said a joint police and military unit stationed at Bindinto to avert and respond to any invasion were informed of the incident.

They quickly responded to the distress call and averted the ill intention of the bandits to kidnap as many as possible.

It would be recalled that the Zamfara State government had stationed 80 combined Mobile Police, soldiers, and Civil Defence to counter threats posed by the recalcitrant bandits.

The statement also said currently, the police search and rescue team in collaboration with the military are in the nearby forest to rescue the district head and the 4 others kidnapped along with him.

The police are calling on the people of the state to report any threat of any kind to the security agencies for early response.
