Two bills have scaled through second reading at the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
They are the bill for a law to provide for the establishment and management of Zamfara State Solid Minerals Development Agency, and a bill to promote Young Persons’ Education, to prevent distractions during school hours, in the state.
The two bills are being allowed to scale through second reading after intensive debate by members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
The bill for a law to provide for the establishment and management of the state Solid Minerals Development Agency, is being sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Muhammad Jangeru.
He said if passed into law, it will help checkmate the activities of bandits and alleviate poverty, as several young people will be allowed to engage in artisanal mining activities.
The sponsor of the bill to promote young persons’ education and to prevent all forms of distractions during school hours is by Alhassan Kanoma.
Jangeru said that the bill seeks to take out of school children in the streets to be enrolled in schools.
Meanwhile, the committee set up to investigate the alleged siphoning of over 37 billion Naira by the administration of the former governor, Abdulazeer Yari, has commenced its assignment.
The Committee had invited the Commissioner for Finance, Rabiu Garba, his counterpart in the Justice Ministry, Nura Zarumi, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Investment Matters, to get their sides of the story.
