More than four thousand Niger State civil servants who have not been paid their September salary are currently facing serious hardship.
The non-payment of their salary is not unconnected with the ongoing screening by a committee instituted by the state government to authenticate the actual number of its civil servants.
A member of the State Assembly representing Bosso Constituency, Madaki Bosso, drew attention to the plight of the workers at plenary, noting that the directive to suspend payment was from the office of the Head of Service.
Bosso added his interest was to ensure the affected civil servants are paid.
The member, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Labour, called on the Salary Committee to submit its findings and recommendation for action by the Governor.
