The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Marcus Onobun, has promised to work in synergy with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to ensure that the confidence reposed in the party during the last governorship election by the people is sustained.

The Speaker with six other PDP members of the House during a courtesy visit to the leadership of the party at its secretariat, also commended the leaders for the support given to Governor Godwin Obaseki which translated to his reelection in the just concluded governorship election in the state.

The new Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, who led six other members of the House, said the visit became necessary to intimate the party about the recent changes in the leadership of the House.

The leadership of the State PDP led by the Party Chairman, Tony Aziegbemin, and the South-South Chairman of the Party, Dan Orbih, commended the lawmakers for the unity among them despite the recent crises in the House that led to the impeachment of the former Speaker, Frank Okiye, as they are urging the Assembly members to support the Governor to achieve his mandate of developing the state and the task of meeting the needs of the people.

Crises had recently rocked the Edo State House of Assembly after the former Speaker was impeached by nine other members of the House.

His impeachment has since been commuted to resignation.
