American singer, songwriter, and music producer, John Legend, has dedicated a heart-rendering ballad of his song ‘Never Break’ at the Billboard Award to his wife, Chrissy Teigen.
The couple announced the death of their baby, who was named Jack earlier this month on Instagram with a few black and white photographs of them in the hospital.
Teigen confessed to fans that after her miscarriage, she and John were both shocked and in deep pain.
Dressed in an all-white tuxedo and seated at the centre of the stage with a grand piano, Legend started his performance by saying:’ This is for Chrissy’.
The song, ‘Never Break ‘ is part of his new album ‘Bigger Love.’
The lyrics include “I’m not worried about us and I’ve never been. We know how the story ends. We will never break.”
American singer and songwriter, Kelly Clarkson, hosted the Billboard Award and while introducing John Legend’s song, she stated: “He and Chrissy both have this warm way of inviting us into their world. The highs and the lows.
“My heart – obviously all of our hearts – go out to you both in this very difficult time. And I’m thankful that you continue to share your light and your talent with all of us.”
She ended her statement by referring to his song as ‘very special.
