Britain’s Andy Murray suffered another defeat on Tuesday, as he fell to out of form Fernando Verdasco, 6-4, 6-4 at the first round of the Cologne Indoors in Germany.

The three-time grand slam champion also fell victim in the US and French Open, as he was eliminated in the second and first round of the grand slam tournaments, after receiving wild cards.

The Veteran Spanish player, one of the oldest players at the cologne indoors tournament, ended a four-match losing run since the 2020 Australian Open.

The cologne tournament is his second tournament of the year since the coronavirus, after taking part in the Rome Masters last month.

Verdasco will now play German Alexander Zverev in the second round.
