Based on reports from the Ministry of Health in Uganda, no less than 50 Journalists have reportedly tested positive to COVID-19. The Director of curative services at the Ministry of Health, Charles Olaro revealed this at a virtual media symposium organized by ACME.

That number represents close to 0.6% of the total population of victims to COVID-19 in the country. Olaro believes the journalists could have contracted the virus due to the nature of their work and joined other speakers to admonish journalists to exercise caution in dispersing their functions.

The Vice-Chairperson of Ugandan Journalists Association of the Buganda region disclosed that the figures could most likely be higher because only a few tested of the many who were at high risk covering the pandemic.
