The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has called on the people of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States to provide the anti-graft agency with any useful information about any contractors or government agencies who have siphoned the fund meant to reconstruct the deplorable Calabar-Itu federal roads with a promise to prosecute and convict them if found guilty.

The Uyo Zonal Head of the EFCC, Uchenna Edeh, stated this while speaking on the deplorable situation of the road during his visit to the National Union of Journalists, NUJ, Press Centre in Calabar on Wednesday.

Uchenna said the resources accrued to various projects in the Niger Delta Region must be monitored and reported by journalists, promising that the EFCC is going to partner with the media to expose criminals who thrive on the citizen commonwealth for their personal use.

While calling on the citizens to wake up to their responsibilities, the Zonal EFCC boss said his office is open to receive petitions directly or through anonymous on any established economic crimes for investigation, prosecution, and conviction.

While assuring that the time of cybercrimes fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo boys are over, Uchenna said 18 of them have been convicted in the last two months with more to come in the days ahead.

He emphasised increased engagements with the media as an important means of breaking the stronghold of information dissemination between the commission and the citizens.
