Abia State Government has begun the enumeration process to ensure that the Federal Government’s COVID-19 Survival Fund meant for traders and artisans get to the proper and rightful beneficiaries,

Already, the state government is meeting with the leadership of various Traders’ and Artisans’ Unions in the State to sensitize them on the registration of their members for the programme.

Addressing representatives of the Unions, the State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Cosmos Ndukwe, warned the Union leaders against collecting money from anyone for registration.

The COVID-19 survival fund was mapped out by the Federal Government to cushion the effects occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown on the artisans and traders.

Officials said that over 9,000 persons are to benefit from the Artisan and Traders Support Scheme in Abia state, with every successful applicant receiving between the sum of 25,000 and 30,000 Naira.
