Switzerland’s Xherdan Shaqiri has tested positive for coronavirus and becomes the latest Liverpool player to test positive within one week after Thiago Alcantara and Senegalese Sado Mane tested positive last week.

The Swiss Football Association confirmed the news, stating that the midfielder is now isolating ahead of the country’s friendly games.

The 28-year-old has failed to make the Premier League squad this season, as he has only featured once for Liverpool, in the Carabao Cup fixture at Lincoln.

Switzerland has been scheduled to play Croatia on Wednesday in an international friendly game, before taking on Spain and Germany on 10 and 13 October respectively in the UEFA Nations League.
