The founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa, and five others have been sentenced to life imprisonment following the disappearance of a six-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole, in his church last year November.
Justice Olusegun Odusola of the Ondo State High Court delivered the judgment on Tuesday in Akure, Ondo State capital.
He convicted the defendants having found them guilty of the two-count charge of kidnapping and aiding and abetting kidnapping based on the circumstantial evidence presented by the prosecution.
The trial judge also condemned in strong terms the complicity, compromise, and lackadaisical attitude of the Ondo State Police Command after Gold got missing which also led the burning of Sotitobire Church.
Justice Odusola, however, asserted that the judgment would serve as a deterrent to others who engage in criminal activities.
