Belgian Soccer Federation on Tuesday announced that Europe’s football governing body UEFA has rejected their proposal to bring back fans into the King Baudouin stadium next month for a friendly match against Ivory Coast.
The federation revealed that after setting up a protocol with Brussels authorities to allow about 11,000 spectators back, while observing Coronavirus protocols, the sports body has deemed the match “premature” to apply this protocol.
UEFA has confirmed that the match will be held behind closed doors. The country’s federation president Peter Bossaert further said UEFA’s decision will be implemented at all European levels, as it is not limited to Belgium.
The red devils will host a friendly game against Switzerland in November before taking on England and Denmark in the Nations League.
