Burna Boy

After Popular Nigerian artist and songwriter, Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy stylishly turned down the request of the former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore to join the October 1, nationwide protest, a lot of aspersions has been cast on Burna Boy’s lyrics. It all started with a simple invitation from Sowore…

On Tuesday night, Sowore tweeted at Burna Boy asking him to join the #RevolutionNow protest against the current administration. He also implored him to act like the late Political activist Fela Kuti. However, Bruna Boy blatantly refused his offer, saying he has no interest in being a part of Sowore schemes.

According to Burna Boy, Nigerian Politicians are all the same and couldn’t be trusted including Sowore. He replied the tweet saying: he is not Fela as he has often cleared, so Sowore should leave him out his schemes. He also threw shade saying ‘how funny it is that people turned away from Fela after his death and that Nigerians have no real allegiance.

Sowore, however, took to his social media account to reply Burna Boy comment by saying he has always been a member of the Fela household and this can be confirmed by Fela youngest son Seun Kuti, as he and Fela had hung out together in his home and the African shrine when he was still alive. He ended his statement by saying IF YOU WANT TO BE FELA, BE FELA

Nigerians upon seeing the comment from both parties have however suggested to Sowore to approach Nigerian lawyer and human right activist Femi Falana and son Falz instead of Burna Boy. Others have however wondered if Burna Boy has just been bluffing in all his lyrics.

Over to you, what do you think?
