President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded a request to the Senate seeking approval for the confirmation of eight justices of the Court of Appeal to be elevated as Justices of the Supreme Court.
The request of the President is contained in an executive communication read on the floor of the upper legislative chamber at Tuesday’s plenary by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
The nominees are Justice Lawal Garba, Justice Helen Ogunwumiju, Justice Abdu Aboki, and Justice M. Salauwa
Others are Justice Adamu Jauro, Justice Samuel Oseji, Justice Tijani Abubakar, and Justice Emmanuel Agim.
The request is expected to be refered to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Legal and Human Rights.
No date has been fixed for the screening of the eight presidential nominees.
