Australian Football Federation appoints Tony Gustavsson as Women Head Coach

Football Federation Australia has appointed former USA’s national women’ s team assistant coach Tony Gustavsson as the new head coach of the women’s team, the Maltidas.

The 47-year-old and former coach of Swedish women’s club Tyreso FF acted as an assistant to the United States head coach Jill Ellis, leading the Americans to their two World Cup victories 2015 and 2019 respectively.

It has been reported that he will remain with Swedish club Hammarby until the end of 2020 and will take charge of the Maltidas in January 2021.

The former coach of the women’s team Ante Milicic, stepped down in July, following the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
