Mali’s Interim President, Ba N’Daou has appointed former foreign minister, Moctar Ouane as the nations Prime Minister.

The decision has led to the removal of sanctions earlier placed by the ECOWAS after a coup was staged which led to the resignation of the former president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.

Appointing a civilian leader was the only requirement to have those sanctions lifted and with the new appointment, Mali seems to have met the requirement.

Ouane served as Mali’s permanent representative to the United Nations between 1995 to 2002 before serving as the country’s foreign minister from 2004 till 2011.
