The Aviation Union in Nigeria has made its intention known to join the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, nationwide strike action on Monday to protest the twin price hikes of electricity and fuel pump.

The president, National Association of Airline Pilots and Engineers, NAAPE, Galadima Abednego, said it is pertinent for the four unions to participate in the action as aviation is one of the major consumers of fuel and electricity in the sector.

Abednego blamed the past and present administrations for the poor state of refineries in the country and believed that no court order will stop the action to take as much is expected from the union by Nigerians to be their voice against any Federal Government policies that cannot benefit the people.

In a joint and signed statement, the four aviation unions had agreed to join the protest on Monday including the Air Transport Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSAN, and the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals, ANAP.
