Abia State directs all Schools to resume by 28th of September

Edo Schools to resume january 18

Schools are set to resume on the 28th of September as directed by the Abia state government to complete the 2019/2020 academic session. This announcement was made by the State Commissioner of information, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, after the Executive Council Meeting.

He further explained that schools are expected to conduct a one-week revision class in preparation of the promotional examination to hold on the 5th -16th of October. Chief Okiyi-Kalu said this examination will be used as an assessment in addition to the student’s first and second term work.

The teachers would also be given a week to prepare the results for the third term. he also said that the ministry of education plans to release some guidelines include safety precautions against COVID-19 to the private schools. he then added that resumption of the tertiary institutions will be later announced by the state government. 

He also said that EXCO has approved the establishment of a road maintenance committee in the 17-local government to achieve the aero-potholes policy of the state government. Okiyi-okalu further said a committee has been approved by EXCO to supervise the transition of the Abia state road commission agency.

The commissioner added that measures are also taking to fight the pandemic as approval was given to the acquiring of COVID 19 intervention materials for Abia state University Teaching Hospital and College of Health Sciences and Management, Aba.
