Niger APC Chairman remanded in prison custody for failing to meet bail conditions

The embattled Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of Niger State, has been remanded in prison custody by a Magistrates Court Judge in Minna.

The Chairman, Jibrin Imam, was remanded in the New Minna Prison with two others, for failing to meet bail conditions.

Imam and the two others were accused of misappropriating over eight hundred million Naira party funds.

The prosecutor, Ahmad Saidu, had accused Imam and his allies of withdrawing monies meant for the party and using them for personal gains.

He added that the withdrawal contravenes the provisions of financial transactions, as enshrined in the Constitution.

Counsel to the accused, Isah Sulaiman, prayed the court to grant Imam bail.

The Presiding Magistrate, Nasiru Muazu, ordered that the embattled Chairman be remanded in the Correctional Service custody till Friday.
