Amnesty International has called for a thorough investigation into the unjust killing of a pregnant woman who was shot by several men in military gear.

According to David Matsinhe from the human rights watchdog group, this is not a novel occurrence in Northern Mozambique as over 3000 people in Cabo Delgado have fled their homes due to insurgency from both the police and the army.

The army has, however, disclosed that the people who have lost their lives in combat are rebels, however many speculations abound.

The number of destitute in the region have been estimated at 300000 by the United Nations because of growing insecurity and poor infrastructure as Cabo Delgado maintains the second-highest rate of chronic malnutrition in the country.
