David Beckham’s Inter Miami have made their second big-name signing this transfer window. Inter Miami have confirmed the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus on a free transfer.
Higuain and Juventus agreed to terminate the Argentine’s contract after Andrea Pirlo made it clear that Higuain was not in his plans for the season. He struggled for game time under Sarri last season.
The 32-year-old was only able to register 11 goals and 8 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions. Before the 2019/20 season, he had a frustrating 2018/19 season. He had two loan spells with AC Milan and Chelsea.
Despite playing for two different clubs in two seasons, he was only able to score 13 goals and provide 3 assists in all competitions. The best spell of his career came at Napoli in the 2015/16 season where he was the league’s top scorer with 36 goals.
Before his switch to Napoli, he spent 7 years at Real Madrid but struggled to secure a first-team spot. He faced competition from forwards such as Ronaldo de Lima, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Raul, Karim Benzema, Emmanuel Adebayor and Cristiano Ronaldo.
After three successful seasons at Napoli, he then made a big-money move to Juventus. Sadly, he was not able to replicate the numbers he produced while at Naples. However, Inter Miami have signed a prolific striker who will set the MLS ablaze.
