Taraba State Government has directed the resumption of primary and secondary schools on Monday, September 21, after six months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government said it has set up a team to monitor compliance with Covid-19 guidelines in schools across the state.

Taraba State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Johannes Jigems, said the reopening of primary and secondary schools in the state is on the directive of Governor Darius Ishaku.

The state government also charged for strict compliance with Covid-19 guidelines in all the private and public schools to be reopened.

Though the schools closed after the second academic term, the government directed that the resumed schools should begin a new academic session instead of a third term.

Principals and headteachers have also been warned against collecting third term school fees from pupils and students.

Primary and Secondary schools in Taraba State closed on March 24, 2020, due to Covid-19.

The return to school directive is expected to kick-start full-fledged academic activities, six months after.
