Edo State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chris Osa Nehikhare, has refuted the rumoured resignation of the Chairman of the State Chapter of the party, Anthony Aziegbemi, describing it as fake news and a hoax.

Nehikhare, who stated this while speaking to journalists in Benin City, described the rumour as “the fabrication of members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in their last-minute and desperate efforts to save an unpopular candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from quitting the governorship race which the party is set to lose”.

The State PDP spokesperson claimed that the APC being worried about the lack of acceptance of its candidate, has resorted to desperate and unconventional campaign tactics; fake news, deceit and falsehood, to attempt to sway Edo voters.

Nehikhare noted for emphasis, that the State PDP Chairman who has not resigned from the party is committed to leading it to victory, come September 19, with the standard bearer, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He urged the Edo people to ignore the mischief of the APC and come out en masse to re-elect the PDP candidate.
