Despite the recent peace accord organised by the Atyap Traditional Council in Zango Kataf and that of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, it appears peace is still very far from communities in Southern Kaduna.

This follows the attack on Hayin Doruwa in Zaman Dabo Ward of Zango Kataf Local Government Area in the late hours of Thursday.

Some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen invaded the community at about 23.28 pm killing two people, burning down 11 houses, and destroying food items.

The victims killed are Benjamin Sunday and Kahu Ishaya.

Security operatives have been deployed to the community and authorities said they are on top of the situation.

On September 7, the Northern Traditional Rulers Council assured the Kaduna State Government of its support to end killings in Southern Kaduna.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, gave the assurance at an executive committee meeting of the council in Kaduna.

Also, the Kaduna State Chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, said it has resolved to bury its differences with other tribes and work towards the return of peace in the Southern part of the state.

The MACBAN said this in a communique at the end of a peace summit in Kafanchan on Sunday, September 6.
