Heath and Press each sign One-year deal after championing USA World Cup

Manchester United women have completed the signing of USA’s World Cup-winning duo, Tobin Heath and Christen Press on one-year deals from the NSWL subject to obtaining work permits.

The re-inc co-founders join from Portland Thorns and Utah Royals respectively. Heath spent the last seven seasons with National Women’s Soccer League side Portland Thorns, winning two NWSL titles in 2013 and 2017 respectively. The 32-year-old winger also played for Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 and 2014.

She has made 168 appearances for the united states team, winning two Olympic gold medals and two world cups. The 2016  NWSL Player of the year, was also shortlisted for the 2019 Women’s Ballon d’Or.

Press who joined Utah Royals in 2018, has also played in the Swedish league Goteborg FC and Tyreso FF respectively, before signing with NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars, becoming the club’s highest goal scorer.

In an interview, the duo said they are delighted to have signed with the club, as they look forward to competing in England. In a statement, Manchester United head coach Casey Stoney said the duo are very experienced players, winning world cups back to back, with great goal scoring skills.

The American partners join Manchester city signings of fellow USA internationals Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle this season. United are playing their second season in the Women’s Super League, reforming their senior women’s side in 2018 following a 13-year absence.
