The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has reviewed the boarding procedure that mandated air travel passengers to pay and received QR code through the Nigeria International Travel Portal, NITP, before been allowed to board.
In a statement, the Director-General, NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu, said the development has mandated airlines to board passengers without QR codes as a temporary measure pending when additional ongoing work to the payment platform is completed.
However, Nuhu noted that presentation of covid-19 PCR test valid within 96 hours prior to boarding, remains compulsory for all passengers travelling to Nigeria and urged airline operators to ensure compliance.
Since the resumption of international flights in Nigeria, passengers have been facing a difficult situation to register online at airports across the world while some missed their flights due to the refusal of airlines to accommodate them on their flight schedule owing to a system breakdown of the Nigeria international travel portal to facilitate the covid-19 test before arrival.
