Offa Bank Robbery: Court Adjourns Case Over Slain Policemen Death Certificate

The hearing in the case of the infamous Offa bank robbery resumed on Monday with the appearance of the 5th principal witness.

The case was, however, adjourned again till Tuesday over admissibility or otherwise of the death certificates of nine policemen slain in the robbery attack.

More than 30 persons including the policemen were killed in the robbery which took place on April 5, 2018.

For the first time, the Offa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Adamu Danjuma, who witnessed how the attack took place, testified before the court on Monday.

He told the court that seven of his men were killed by three armed robbers at the police station while two other policemen were killed in front of the bank.

Just as the death certificates of the nine policemen were about to be tendered, the Defense Counsel raised an objection that he had not been availed of the documents.

The trial judge, Justice Halimat Salman, in her short ruling, ordered the Prosecuting Counsel to avail the Defense Counsel of all necessary documents that will be tendered in the case.

The case has lasted two years.
