The first International flight arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja after 5 months closure to contain the spread of Covid-19 with passengers on board complaining about a mandatory payment of N42,000 for the Covid-19 test.

Speaking with reporters, the passengers complained bitterly about the online payment portal which they said was not working properly; causing long queues at the airport and making some persons to missed the flight.

All international passengers to Nigeria are required to pay for the COVID-19 test online before boarding the aircraft.

The airlines are mandated to obtain evidence of this payment before allowing the passenger to board.

The Ethiopian Airline flight arrived Abuja with 120 passengers on board and 13 crew members.

The A350 airplane landed at exactly 1:34 pm local time to a ceremonial water-cannon by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria and the Fire Service department.

Some of the passengers however commended FAAN over the COVID-19 protocols at the airport compared to other African countries.

This was as the Managing Director, FAAN, Rabiu Yadudau, who was at the airport to monitor the flight arrival, said the resumption of international flights serves as a lifesaver for the aviation industry.
