England coach Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Manchester City’s Phil Foden and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood have been dropped from the squad. Both players are guilty of violating covid19 laws.
It has been rumoured that Foden and Greenwood brought girls back to their base after their match against Iceland. But the FA has yet to confirm the breach information. Both players do not practice with the squad and will now fly back to England.
This will be the second time within a month whereby English players are the centre of controversies. In August, Manchester United Centre back Harry Maguire was arrested while on holiday in Greece.
18-year-old Greenwood and 20-year-old Foden may also face sanctions from the English FA over their actions. After investigations by the FA, a verdict will then be given. Both players made their first-team debut in the match against Iceland.
