The Spanish football federation is blessed with a generational talented forward in Ansu Fati. 17-year-old Fati is of African descent as he was in Guinea-Bissau but raised in Seville, Spain.
The Barcelona youngster was also eligible to play for Portugal due to via his grandparents’ birth in Portuguese Guinea.
However, in 2019, the Spanish football federation courted Fati and granted him Spanish citizenship.
On the 3rd of September, Fati made his debut for Spain’s senior team coming up as a substitute against rivals Germany. On his first start three days later, Fati scored his first goal for La Roja against Ukraine in matchday two of the UEFA Nations League.
The enigmatic winger has subsequently become the youngest player to score a goal for Spain. Earlier in the 2019/20 season, Fati broke three other records for Barcelona, La Liga and the Champions League.
He became the youngest goalscorer in Barcelona, the youngest player ever to score and assist in La Liga and the youngest ever to score in the Champions League.
