The recent increment in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit PMS, to one 151 naira, is still eliciting reactions from some residents of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Those who spoke to reporters while describing the hike in fuel pump price as unfortunate, noted that this not what President Muhammadu Buhari promised Nigerians during his electioneering campaigns in 2015.

They, however, called on Nigerians to rise up to the occasion and speak up with one voice and let the All Progressives Congress, APC- led government knows the hardships it poses on Nigerians especially during this Covid-19 era when other countries are thinking on how to ameliorates the sufferings of their citizens.

The increase in the petrol pump price to 151 naira from 143 naira is not going down well with residents of Port Harcourt.

While calling on the Federal Government to have a human face, they said this is not the promise the President made to the people when he assumed office in 2015.

Petroleum marketers, who are not finding the increments funny, called for the establishment of modular refineries.

Now that the price of PMS has gone up, it will affect the prices of goods and services which will inflict another round of hardships on Nigerians, it is expected that the Federal Government will have a rethink and rescind the decision.
