tanzania and kenya spat

The dispute between Tanzania and Kenya seems to be ending no time soon as failure to reach some form of consensus on cross-border movement of people and goods.

The fracas began when Kenya excluded Tanzania from the list of countries that would be allowed entry based on new coronavirus restrictions. Tanzania decided to return the favour by banning Kenyan Airlines from its airspace and maintains that it will remain so until Tanzanians are accorded the same treatment as those on the list.

The Kenyan Government, however, maintains its stand on quarantining all travellers from Tanzania for 14 days further escalating the discord between both countries. Kenya’s Transport Minister, James Macharia maintains that the directives are from the health ministry and as such have to follow the protocols for the interest of East Africans.

Although Kenya recently increased the list of countries allowed entry without the 14-day quarantine, Tanzania still remains obviously absent from the list.
