Angola’s Supreme Court has sentenced Jose Filomeno dos Santos, son of former Angolan president to five years imprisonment for fraud whilst managing the national sovereign wealth fund.
He headed the sovereign wealth fund from 2013 to 2018 and the judgement delivered earlier today for an illegal transferof $500 million from the Central Bank to a London Branch as his father’s tenure was coming to an end.
His sister, Isabel Dos Santos is also facing several criminal cases for fraud and the likes, having her assets frozen, allegations which she has denied and claims are a decoy to dissuade her from contesting for the presidency.
