Atletico Madrid women have suspended their training sessions, after confirming new COVID-19 positive tests among the coaching staff and their squad.
The news was confirmed on Wednesday before they are scheduled to face Barcelona in a Champions League quarter-final on August 21. The ladies had canceled a friendly game last week following the first positive test.
The members who had tested positive are isolating at home, and the squad would continue to follow strict health guidelines, the club said in a statement.
The Women’s round of the UEFA Champions League is due to return on August 21 and will be played as an eight-team mini-tournament in two Spanish cities of San Sebastian and Bilbao respectively.
Earlier on Monday, the men’s teams who play RB Leipzig in a Champions League quarter-final on Thursday returned two positive cases of Covid-19.
