Cases of COVID-19 has finally crossed the one million mark with five countries accounting for 75 per cent of the cases on the continent. According to the Daily Nation, 2/3 of Africans infected with the virus have recovered.
Also the number of daily infections have slightly declined as compared to July by approximately 17% in South Africa. Countries with the highest caseload per capita include SOuth Africa, Djibouti, Cape Verde, Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe.
Egypt, has recorded the second highest number of cases and has also a slight reduction in the number of cases, according to the anti-coronavirus panel, the Nation has peaked and is now on a downward trend.
Nigeria has also recorded fewer cases of the COVID-19 and is further easing restrictions such as allowing places of worship to reopen and civil servants above grade 12 to return to a full work day but remins cautious and is still enforcing the use of facemasks nationwide
Ethiopia and Zimbabwe appear to still be recording a high number of cases, Zimbabwe is in a precarious position with health workers protesting for better remuneration amongst others
