Highly-rated French centre back Dayot Upamecano has signed a new deal to remain at RB Leipzig till July 2023. Before the extension, his contract was set to expire in June 2021. He was on the radar of top clubs in Europe and was a major target for Arsenal.
However, the contract extension does not mean that he would not leave the club next season. Bayern Munich is keeping an eye on the progress of the 21-year-old and might offer Leipzig a mouth-watering deal to secure the services of the ball-playing centre back.
With the recent departure of Timo Werner to Chelsea, Leipzig will be desperate to keep a hold of their key players. Also, Leipzig has shown that they are strict with negotiation but will honour their commitments to their players.
For now, the future of Upamecano remains at RB Leipzig.
