Golf Australia has officially postponed the Australian Open indefinitely, until early 2021. The tourney which was scheduled to hold at the Kingston health golf club in Melbourne city, in November, has been on lockdown for over three months, as a result of COVID-19.

In a statement, Golf Australia operations manager Simon Brookhouse said he had hoped that the national championship will go ahead later in the summer. He said the issues associated with the pandemic has made it difficult to stage the event.

He also added that it is not a matter of if the organizers could co-ordinate any international visits, as the safety of everyone involved has also been considered.
