The Lagos State Third Mainland Bridge has now been cordoned off for work to begin as early as 4 am this morning by traffic regulators.

The planned maintenance of the bridge has generated a lot of concerns with the state’s residents as the bridge is one of the very few means of connecting with the mainland in fairly good condition.

The minister of works and housing, Hon. Babatunde Fashola explained that the scheduled maintenance is to repair some expansion joints which could otherwise lead to casualties in the future if left undone.

Prior to today, arrangements have been made by the state government to divert road users to prevent a deadlock which is almost expected in situations like this for users commuting between the Island and the Mainland.
