67 Illegal Indian Workers Arrested In Malawi Sugar Factory Raid

The immigration department officials in Malawi have arrested a group of illegal workers. All 67 of the illegal workers were of Indian National.

The workers were reportedly arrested at the Salima sugar factory for working without acquiring work permits.

According to the reports, Richard Chimwendo Banda, the minister of homeland security, paid the factory a surprise visit after discovering that they were Indians working in the factory without working permit.

The immigration officers surrounded the sugar factory; all exits were guarded to make sure no one escaped arrest.

According to Elack Banda, the spokesperson for the immigration department in the Central region, the immigrants arrived in Malawi in mid-June and have since been working in the factory without work permits as required by the law.
