Two men were caught with six pieces of elephant tusks in Kutus, Kirinyaga County late Tuesday in Kenya.
The six elephant tusk is estimated to be worth about Ksh 1.4 million (approx. $13,000 and 5 million Naira).
Anthony Mbogo, Gichugu Sub-county Police, disclosed that the suspects were followed by the Kenyan Wildlife Service Rangers before they were finally arrested.
The court hearing for the two suspect will hold today, July 22.
This is coming at a time where many elephants on the continent have been found dead.
Just last month, hundreds of elephants were also found dead in Botswana, the authorities are yet to rule out poisoning and disease.
Mbogo said that the elephant tusks found with the suspects means that the country is losing more elephants.
He advised the residents living near the Mt. Kenya forest to alert the security when they discover suspicious activities.
