Tanzania’s poll body has announced that the 2020 general election will hold Wednesday, October 28.

The East Africa National Electoral Commission also disclosed dates for electoral campaigns.

The Chairman, Justice Semistocles Kaijage, stated electoral campaigns start Wednesday, August 26 to Tuesday, October 27 a day before the general election.

He made known that nominations will be submitted on Tuesday, August 25, for all presidential and parliamentary positions aspirants.

The current Tanzania President, John Magufuli, will also run again for a final five-year term in the forthcoming election. Magufuli was chosen by Chama Cha Mapinduzi.

Magufuli will probably run with a United opposition candidate. This will be a very serious challenge for his party which has been ruling Tanzania since 1964.
