According to the Presidential Task Force on COVID 19, Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, relaxed the restrictions placed on worship centers on Monday, and the restrictions would be lifted around the nation today.

Boss Mustapha, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, disclosed this information at the daily press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

Mustapha revealed that the reopening of worship centres would be based on new rules and guidelines issued by the task force and the states.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation also disclosed that the second phase of the reopening of the economy was beginning on the 2nd of June and is expected to end on Monday, June 29, 2020.

He also mentioned that the restrictions of interstate travel was still in place and would not be lifted till further notice.

The nationwide curfew would remain in place but has now been shifted from 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., which would also be put into effect today.

Vehicles on essential duties such as; healthcare services, media, etc would be exempted from the curfew.

The financial sector will also be opened fully in the second phase. Banks can now operate the full working hours, 5 days of the week, Monday to friday.

In this second phase, street walking around the country is still prohibited but markets can now fully reopen as long as they abide by the new curfew hours.

Hotels will now be able to reopen and entertain visitors but recreational parks, sportscenters, cinemas, nightclubs and bars are still restricted from reopening.

Hotels can now reopen fully, provided their restaurants obey the safety guidelines put into place.

Schools are also to remain closed in this phase until further notice.
