Kaduna health workers to search for COVID-19 active cases

Dr. Amina Mohammed-Baloni, the Kaduna Commissioner for Health, disclosed on Monday that health officials would commence the search for COVID-19 active cases in nine local government areas to search and test for people who might have contracted COVID-19.

The communities being searched are communities with confirmed cases of the COVID-19 disease.

Mohammed-Baloni disclosed that during the exercise, 29,771 households will be tested and so far, 297 individuals showing symptoms of the virus have been tested.

Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi state has ordered the total lockdown of the Local Government Area the first two cases of the COVID-19 were detected in the state.

The lockdown measure will commence on, Tuesday, June 2.

The local government area to be locked down is Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

On Monday, the Ekiti State government inaugurated a new mobile laboratory with 400 testing capacity to improve the testing for the COVID-19 disease within the state.

Kayode Fayemi, the State Governor, said this is a big step to curbing the spread of the virus in the state.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed 416 new cases of the COVID-19 disease within the country on Monday.

Lagos confirmed the highest number of cases in 192 cases, Edo next at 41 new cases.

Nigeria has now confirmed a total of 10,578 cases of the COVID-19 disease with 299 deaths recorded.
