South Korea records its highest daily COVID-19 case since Sunday, April 5.
This comes after the country lifted its restrictions on Wednesday, May 6. The economy slowly swung open and schools resume again since the outbreak.
However, due to the recent jump in the number of daily cases, parks, museums, and art galleries in Seoul, the nation’s capital, would be closed for 14 days from Friday, May 29.
South Korea confirmed 79 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. According to the nation’s health minister, Park Neung-hoo, South Korea start social distancing again if the skyrocketing daily case doesn’t stop.
He urged companies to try to enable flexible working again in order to curb the spread of the pandemic disease.
While South Koreans should also practice physic distancing in public places.
Most of the new cases recorded were in Seoul and they’ve been locally transmitted and not from someone returning from abroad. South Korea was one of the first hit countries in the world.
However, the nation has been commended for its mass testing and tracing since the outbreak of the pandemic.
In April, it’s 29 mullion citizens came out to vote in a parliamentary election, they were all mandated to wear face masks and gloves and no new cases were recorded during the period.
