The main opposition party for the Burundi election that was held on May 20, has taken the ruling and winning party to court to dispute the election results.

The opposition party accused the ruling party of fraud claiming that they have evidence of the act.

The election results that were declared on Monday, May 25, showed that General Evariste Ndayishimiye from the ruling party won the election with 64% of the votes and Agathon Rwasa, the main opposition at 24% of the votes.

Rwasa said that appalling errors were made while the votes were counted and the announced results are false and they had evidence to prove this claim.

The court will rule on the election results on June 5.

Rwasa threatened the Burundi High Court saying that if they did not rule against the ruling party then they were taking the case to the neighbouring country, Tanzania, to rule on the case.
