A new Galaxy has been discovered by a team of scientists. The newly discovered galaxy is shaped like a doughnut and looks like a “Cosmic ring of fire.”
The scientists are from the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-Sky Astrophysics.
According to the scientists, the new Galaxy is said to have a structure similar to Earth’s Milky way.
The scientist behind the discovery said it could help “us understand more about the structure of galaxies in space.”
Astronomers believe that the new Galaxy is what “our” Galaxy looks like about 11 billion years ago.
Tiantian Yuan, the lead researcher behind the discovery, said that the new Galaxy looks both strange and familiar at the same time and that the diameter of the hole at the centre is two billion times longer than the distance between the sun and the earth.
Yuan said that the new Galaxy makes stars 50 times greater than “our” Milky Way.
