As a result of the deluge affecting the East African country, thousands of Ugandans have been displaced.
The torrential rain pouring heavily in the country has led to rivers overflowing.
The situation got worse after two rivers in western Uganda River Lhubiriha and DR Congo had overflown which resulted in a flood that submerged buildings including a major hospital in western Kasese.
As gathered from an affected resident identified as Betty Mbambu who just bought a plot.
The flood has destroyed her property. Her mattress and cupboards are floating in the water and she’s looking to see how many of these things she can get back from the flood.
This is also the situation of as many Ugandans affected by the deluge. Not only have buildings been submerged, roads, bridges, farmlands have also been destroyed by the flood.
Another East African country like Rwanda is also experiencing heavy rainfall and flood. Just on Thursday in the country, 65 people were lost to flood. And about 200 people in Kenya in April.
In western Kasese, 11 people have been confirmed dead following the flood on Thursday. Which include two students and Uganda People’s Defence Forces soldier, Lothorach Lokwang, attached to the Bwera-based Mountain Brigade.
The heavy rainfall also led to River Thako in the town council flooded.
