Lille Metropole and Super Eagles Striker, Victor Osimhen, lost his father in the early hours of Sunday as he expressed on his Twitter page and Instagram story. Osimhen is now an orphan as he lost his mother at an early age.
The Striker comes from a very humble background which has shaped up his character and personality today. The humility and hard work of the former Wolfsburg prodigy have seen him get to where he is today.
After an impressive season with Belgian club, Charleroi, which saw him net 19 goals in 34 appearances, Lille came calling as Osimhen was signed as a replacement for Nicolas Pepe who left for Arsenal.
Osimhen has now proven to be the best bargain of the season as he has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 27 games. His number would have improved if not for the untimely ending of the Ligue 1 due to the global pandemic.
Osimhen’s performances for the Super Eagles have also improved. He has received more game time during the qualification for the African Cup of Nations. In the qualifiers, he has provided three goals in two games. Overall he has scored 5 goals in six appearances for the Super Eagles.
Lille have now provided a private jet for Osimhen to go and visit his family and organise the burial of his father. The 21-year-old has three siblings and will now be tasked with providing for his family.
