Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, has asked security operatives to arrest 100 Marian boys who are notorious for collecting taxes from buses, taxis, motorcycles, tricycles, and other articulated vehicles under any condition.

The boys are operating under the Commercial Transport Regulatory Agency, CTRA, popularly known as 100 Marian Boys.

Ayade said with the agency’s refusal to adhere to the tax exemption law and his directive, the office and its activities are hereby suspended with immediate effect.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, on Sunday, Ayade directed security agents to arrest anybody found selling tickets or collecting any form of tax from those exempted from paying tax in the state.

“His Excellency will henceforth, not tolerate the flagrant disregard of the tax exemption law which has been in place for over three years now .

“On no account will any criminal and mischievous attempt to undermine and short circuit the noble effort of the Governor, be allowed,” the statement read.
