Eberechi Eze, the Queens Park Rangers electrifying youngster tried to ease speculation about him deciding on who will decide to play for at senior national team level. The 21-year-old is eligible to play for both England and Nigeria.
The former Millwall youth prodigy was born in Greenwich, Greater London to Nigerian parents. The attacking midfielder got his breakthrough in 2016 after signing for QPR after a successful trial.
Before the trial, he was released by Millwall and planned to go to college while working at a local Tesco store.
Thankfully, then QPR manager Ian Holloway saw the potential in the skilful player. He has further developed under Steve McClaren and has become a very important player for them this current campaign as he has contributed with 12 goals and 8 assists in 37 appearances in the EFL Championship.
His partnership with fellow Anglo-Nigerian Bright Osayi-Samuel has helped QPR thrive in the league so far. He has represented England at youth level but he is still too eligible to play for Nigeria.
Eze accepted an invitation by Gernot Rohr to train with the Super Eagles last year which he did. In a recent interview, he stated that he is in no rush to make a decision and wants to keep improving on his all-round game. The Nigerian Football Federation would keep close tabs on the promising star.
